Silicon Alloy Industria LDA is proud to announce the latest expansion phase of our integrated ferro silicon production facility located in Biopio, Benguela Province. This strategic development involves significant upgrades to our core infrastructure, particularly our 9 MVA Submerged Arc Furnace.

By implementing state-of-the-art PLC-based automation and real-time monitoring systems, we are enhancing our capability to produce high-purity ferrosilicon grades safely and efficiently. This expansion not only boosts our annual production capacity but also strengthens our commitment to developing Angola’s local mineral resources into value-added industrial products.

Our testing protocols begin with the raw quartz sourced from our Egito mines and continue through the smelting process in our 9 MVA Submerged Arc Furnace. Before any batch of ferrosilicon is packaged for global supply, it undergoes comprehensive chemical analysis to ensure it perfectly matches the precise specifications required by our clients, such as FeSi 72 or FeSi 75.

This strict adherence to in-house quality control not only minimizes defects but also builds long-term trust with our international partners, guaranteeing that they receive material that optimizes their steelmaking and foundry operations.

As an industrial manufacturer operating in Angola, we recognize our responsibility to the environment and the local community. A core component of our Biopio facility is the integration of advanced environmental control systems designed to minimize our ecological footprint.

Our heavy-duty fume extraction and baghouse dedusting systems capture and filter emissions generated during the smelting process. This infrastructure is critical for maintaining air quality and ensuring a safe, healthy working environment for our team of 90+ professionals.

We are constantly reviewing our operational practices to align with sustainable industrial standards, proving that heavy industry and environmental responsibility can coexist successfully in modern Africa.

Silicon Alloy Industria LDA currently employs approximately 90 professionals, with a strong emphasis on hiring and training local talent from the Benguela region.

Through our on-site technical training programs, we equip young Angolans with specialized skills in metallurgy, machine operation, and quality assurance. This not only builds a capable workforce for our facility but also contributes to the broader economic development of the area.

Producing high-quality ferrosilicon is only the first step. Ensuring that our product reaches international buyers efficiently and in perfect condition requires a highly optimized logistics framework.

At our Biopio facility, we have integrated a dedicated sizing and packaging unit that processes the finished ferrosilicon into precise size ranges (e.g., 10-50mm, 50-100mm) as required by clients. The material is then securely packed into 1 MT jumbo bags designed for heavy-duty ocean freight.

Thanks to our proximity to major Angolan ports and a streamlined documentation process, we have drastically reduced lead times, offering our global partners a highly reliable supply chain for their essential raw materials.

The foundation of premium ferrosilicon lies in the quality of its primary ingredient: Quartz. Our owned quartz mining operations in Egito, located just 70 km from our production plant, provide a secure and long-term supply of high-grade raw material.

We utilize modern extraction and preparation techniques at the mine site to ensure the quartz is properly sized and free of impurities before it is transported to the Biopio facility. This upstream integration gives us total control over the raw material cost and quality.

By optimizing our mining operations, we not only ensure the consistency of our final product but also significantly reduce our supply chain risks compared to competitors who rely entirely on third-party raw material sourcing.

As Silicon Alloy Industria LDA successfully establishes its footprint in the global ferrosilicon market, we are already looking toward the future. Our 12-hectare industrial zone in Biopio was specifically selected with long-term expansion in mind.

Phase 2 of our strategic masterplan includes the installation of additional submerged arc furnaces and the exploration of diverse ferroalloy production, such as silico-manganese. These expansions will allow us to offer a wider portfolio of metallurgical products to our growing customer base.
