Building Angola's Ferro Silicon Industry

Silicon Alloy Industria LDA is an Angola-based ferro silicon manufacturer established to develop local ferroalloy production and convert the country's mineral resources into a value-added industrial product.

Our production facility in Biopio, Benguela Province is designed around integrated ferro silicon manufacturing, from raw material preparation and smelting through quality testing, sizing and packaging.

Who We Are

Silicon Alloy Industria LDA is focused on producing ferro silicon in Angola for steelmaking, foundry, chemical and other metallurgical applications.

The company was established with the objective of developing local ferroalloy manufacturing capacity and reducing reliance on imported ferro silicon while creating an industrial platform capable of serving both regional and international markets.

Our operation is built around a 9 MVA Submerged Arc Furnace with a planned annual production capacity of approximately 6,600 metric tonnes.

Our Story

From Mineral Resources to Value-Added Ferroalloys

Silicon Alloy Industria LDA was established following the identification of high-quality quartz resources in Angola and the opportunity to develop local ferro silicon production.

The company subsequently developed a project around a quartz mining operation in Egito and a ferro silicon manufacturing facility in Biopio, Benguela Province.

The project represents approximately USD 9.75 million in capital investment and is designed to create an integrated production chain connecting raw material resources with industrial ferro silicon manufacturing.

Our approach connects key stages of the ferrosilicon value chain in Angola — from owned quartz mining and raw material preparation to production, laboratory testing, sizing, packaging and supply.

Our quartz mining resources in Egito are located approximately 70 km from the Biopio production facility. At Biopio, a 9 MVA Submerged Arc Furnace, PLC-based automation and real-time monitoring support controlled ferrosilicon production.

In-house laboratory testing, sizing and packaging help maintain product quality and provide buyers with clear product and weight information. Fume extraction and baghouse dedusting systems further support responsible industrial operations.

Located at Zona Industrial dos Cabrais, Município de Biopio, Province of Benguela, our production facility occupies approximately 12 hectares and has been planned with future expansion in mind.
